About eight months ago, I was self harming quite regularly, and the scars on my arm were extremely noticeable, so I always did my best to hide them with long sleeves and bracelets. I went to an All Time Low concert in May, and had the pleasure of meeting the boys afterwards at a signing table. As I reached over to Alex to pass him a poster, my sleeve raised up, though I quickly pulled it down and didn’t think anything of it. As I looked up, I saw Alex leave the table and walk over to me. He gave me the biggest hug, and whispered to me ‘Don’t EVER let those marks on your arms define you as a person. You are so goddamn beautiful, please promise me that you’ll try to believe me. PLEASE don’t ever do that again, you just broke my heart, kiddo.’ I think Zack noticed that something was happening at that point, so he stood up to give me a hug too. Before I knew it, Jack and Rian had joined in, and I was having my very own group hug with All Time Low. It took all my effort not to burst into tears at that moment, Alex’s words meant SO much to me, and someday I hope to tell them how since that day, I haven’t self harmed again, not once. People who say that All Time Low are ignorant to their fans are completely wrong. They are the most caring, gorgeous guys in the world and I cannot thank them enough for everything.
